Now this is amazing straight razor, it is very sharp. Love the fact that it has his own bag. I love the craftsmanship, a great value for money, and it’s great for beginners.
This is my first ever straight razor, and while it gives a great shave, it’s terrifying for me to use. There are a lot of things I need to work on, like getting comfortable holding this, the correct angle to shave at, and learning to make quick strokes instead of long strokes.
The razor comes with quite a bit of lube or grease on it, I’m guessing this is normal, but it makes me hesitant to touch the blade at times. It’s also really sharp, and seems very balanced.
First off this is a beautiful straight razor. The damascus steel is very good quality and overall I love the fit and looks of the razor. My husband used the razor for shaving and states he likes it very much. Feels good in hand and provides a nice shave. Comes in a nice case. Would make a great gift.
This Damascus Straight Razor is a beautiful piece of damascus steel knifemakers art.
And yes, it is literally razor sharp. I tried it around my beard and for that it is perfect.
Sure a straight razor won't get as close as one of those four bladed expensive to replace disposable razors. But it will outlast a thousand packs of blades. Better for the environment. And it is a pleasure to use and hold.
And I think it is better for shaving around my beard, as it doesn't get clogged with beard hair.
Comes with a fantastic soft leather case too.
At 69 years of age I've never used a straight razor, until now. First time use wasn't too difficult except for area around Adam's apple and lower neck. Had to be real careful not to cut myself. Instructions recommended using a strop and letting the razor sit overnight. Unfortunately I don't have a strop but the razor seem plenty sharp. I shave in the shower so I made sure to steam things up real good and let my beard get soft before shaving. I've always used a brush and soap to lather up with so I used my best shaving gel and worked it into my face for a bit longer than normal. Shaving went okay except as noted before and my face came out extremely smooth. Everything was fine. The next morning I woke up with a couple dozen little pus pockets on my face where ingrown hairs were starting to dig in to the skin. My skin was also irritated and a bit red everywhere I'd shaved. I couldn't do anything about the ingrown hairs as they were still too short to dig out so I had to wait on that. I suspect that my problems weren't really a direct result of the razor but from my lack of experience using it. I'm gonna give my face a couple weeks to toughen up and then try again. Love the idea of using a straight razor and hope it works out for me. Definitely a great looking razor and it seems to be quality construction.
