Naked Armor is a family business, run by wet shave enthusiasts inspired by my father.
A portion of your purchase helps feed the hungry in America in horor of my uncle that died on the streets.
First off, let me say this. It is the first time I've used a straight razor, therefore I have nothing to compare this razor to. I'm one of those people that research products before a purchase. Reading reviews, for what they are worth. Most reviews comment on the razor not being sharpe, which was the major cause in less positive reviews.
The Kit arrived within a few day after I ordered it. Looked just like the picture, So I guess I can say you get what you order. Again, this is my first straight razor. it was lighter than I expected, looked good no blemishes that I can see. I also received the ceramic scuttle as a Father's Day promotion, and I ordered the stand. All of which appeared to be good quality, time will tell.
So, the first thing I did was use the strop and paste to get the blade shave ready. Once again I will say this was my first time using a straight razor. Using small strokes to get the proper angle and pressure, I got a nice close smooth shave. Getting the angles and how to hold the razor to get around your face will take time and practice. I will admit there were a few areas that could have been closer, but again I believe this will come in time it's a learning curve. As for the shape of the Thor razor, you do have to be careful with the tip, but is great for shaping and edging which is why I choose it. I must admit felt nice using a straight razor to shave with. If You are thinking of taking the plunge and try a straight razor shave, I'd say do it. It's a different kind of shave, using a single edge blade to remove your facial hair.
This came very nicely packaged. So far I really like the way this keeps the lather fairly warm. Very nice looking also! You have to be careful not to get too large of a soap puck or it won’t go down far enough into the dish for you to have room to build lather. Other than that, this was a great addition to my shave routine.
I have a couple Damascus steel knives and love them. This blade of this razor is made of Damascus steel, which when it’s hardened is supposedly better than stainless. This is a razor that might be used on special occasions … for showing off. This is definitely a collectible, one my husband will cherish. He loves the look and at one time did use a straightedge blade. This would be perfect for a real barber to have on hand for shaving and tidying up the neck.
The blade is sharp and because it’s made of high carbon Damascus steel, it will hold an edge better than stainless. The swirled patten on the blade gives it an amazing, natural look. Damascus steel always looks like flowing water from a stream. Speaking of water, care must be taken to keep the knife clean and dry to prevent rust.
The composition of the handle adds to the look as it’s walnut. The handle of the razor and the blade are solidly riveted together and will last for years. There’s no blade lock, something to note. The small sheaf looks handmade as well. It’s made of good quality cowhide and I’m not seeing any blue in the edges, something that indicates scrap leather. It has good solid stitching around the edges and a nice logo stamped into the center. I do love it, but it's very pricey, even more so than Damascus knives.

When my stand arrived I found it to be an attractive and sturdy stand. sine I have not had it very long I can't address the quality as far as weathering the storm. But as for now, I am please with my purchase of these stands for my straight razor and would consider buying them again..
