I love the scales on my Elyan and the blade was easy to strop. I tried the stropping belt but didn't like the feel--I recommend using a stropping paddle instead. I'm new to straight razors and got some decent cuts the first few attempts. The learning curve is steep but well worth the effort! No cuts 2 weeks in, no razor burn, and a great shave.
